May 16 tribute:

By Deng Madut Akech Akoon. 16 May tribute: I use this chance to honour our leader, Kuanyin Bol, who fired the first shot and was injured, along with Maker Jol Deng, who lost his life in Bor town, and the late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, who led the SPLM/A and fought relentlessly. The late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, leader of the SPLM/A, demonstrated unwavering determination in his fight. In May 1983, our leaders armed themselves and ventured into the bush to combat the Khartoum regime, achieving their objective. They engaged in combat with Gaafar Nimerir, Sadiq Al Mahdi, and Omar Hassan Al Bashir until they were victorious. From 1955, Joseph Lagu and other leaders fought together against our enemies. Late William Deng Nhial, was another instrumental in the struggle for self-determination of South Sudan. He painted our history until the Late Dr. John Garang began from where he left it, we're here because of them. Col Emmanuel Abur Nhial, who refused to join the tyrant government

Progression of a nation:

By Deng Madut Akech Akoon, Adelaide, Australia Herein, I'm grateful to give recognition to people who have contributed positively in Warrap State and South Sudan. I dissected their contributions disseminated on Facebook and any other news medium globally, and I'm bedazzled by their works. Dr John Apuruot Akech innovated university of Juba since he became the Vice Chancellor of that South Sudanese first institution. He positioned the University of Juba on East African map, the continent and the world, he deserve respect and gratitude. Before he returned home, I followed his educative penmanship on his blog space while he was in London, I have things i learned from him. When we take minutes to appreciate people, it strongly elevates them to do more. Dr. Akech is the true face of evolution in South Sudanese higher institutions, his work is monumental and had changed many lives. For my part, I felt encouraged, fascinated, and optimistic as the positivity occupied my h

How did Rwanda develop and buried 1994 genocide?

By Deng Madut Akech   How did Rwanda develop and buried 1994 genocide?     Historically, the smallest nation in East Africa has most blisteringly recovered from genocide of 1994.   Hutus are historically known for farming crops and Tutsis tended livestock like any other African tribes in the region.   It was a systematic murdering of Tutsi ethnic group who were innocently killed by Hutus as the world didn't act to halt genocide. they Rwandans gathered in April yearly to mourn for the lives lost as Africans and the world grieve with them unitedly. The tragedy was inhuman, cruelly, unlawful, senseless and violently devastating which bring an evocative image to mind or unforgettable experience of Rwanda extermination.     In Kakuma Kenya, we heeded and heard the news on the BBC focused on Africa as the genocide occurred in that part of the world. It was the first time I learned and heard of the word genocide, which mean the deliberate killing of a large n

A short story about a young boy and a girl in the village:

Part one: A short story about a young boy and a girl in the village: In Rek land, a young boy by name Alir was born into a destitute & a generous parent. One midday, Alir went out to engage with his friends in a nearby river not far away from home. On his way, he linked up with a young girl his age-group and situated next door carrying a water pot. Both of them felted cheered up as they trekked to the riverbank. She was going to fetch some water on the same river, she greeted him politely and Alir retorted with a smile face. This was the first time they had an approachable conversation and they both smiled freely and continuously. She asked why he never come to their home one day? He said, my parent didn’t give me a consent to go to your house without a genuine reason. Alir added, it'll be exasperating and discourteous to turn up in your family home and ask to see you at this young age, I will be castigated for that. She replied, I will apprise my parents that Alir is c

Read Steven Wondu's excerpt and my response to him.

By Steven Wondu, Garang’s Boys: John Garang’s Orphans Beyond his Natural Household This is an excerpt from Ambassador Steven Wondu’s book: “From Bush to Bush: Journey to Liberty in South Sudan.”[1] John Garang’s prophecy October 15, 2016 (SSB) —- On 29th July 2005, information came that a helicopter Dr. John Garang was travelling in had disappeared. It left Entebbe late afternoon but had not landed at its destination in New Site in Eastern Equatoria. Its whereabouts and fate were unknown. The next day on 30th July, we were told that the helicopter had crashed somewhere in the Imatong Mountains. All passengers and crew, including our leader, had perished. The news of John Garang’s death was devastating . I was angry, confused and broken. I blamed him for not having been more careful. Did he not know that he had many powerful enemies out there? “We told you…oh foolish man…why did you not travel with Bior Ajang, Deng Alor or any senior officer who could sto
Below is my response to Wilson Mading Koc , This guy is from Twi east of Jonglei State and I don’t understand why he ingenuously generalized the innocent citizen of Gogrial State. I will not dispute all you clearly revealed, but instruct you to stop your generalization of people of Gogrial or any group in South Sudan, you can say their names when you’re sure to be heard loud. I'm really flabbergasted that future leaders of this beautiful nation wanted to destroy their names struggling for today, and forget what come tomorrow. So, don’t just create a box and irreproachably put people in, be careful. Firstly, our generation is so much cursed and consecrated/blessed at the same time, the war started when some of us still at young age, grew up in war and got lucky to travelled far places as we both know. We had time to walk together, agonized in groups and learn to speak foreign languages; we didn’t hate each other that much. Mading koc, This is what you wrote, a

Changing to straight path and strong unity,

By Deng Madut Akech Akoon: Personally, I'm disturbed by those who are taking part in supporting or opposing outgoing governor and incoming governor, you're not making senses. Any community in Gogrial, should stand firm and wait President Kiir Mayardit's decision, you don't have the right to appoint or dismiss the person appointed by the highest authority in South Sudan, what brought this division among you? It's mind boggling to hear that some youth received payment to do their free campaign on behalf of these visionless leaders. I want Aguok Thiarkurou to be clean from these messes, united, more cooperation toward development, stop being negative, create new things, do more research following global issues, participate in youth activities and think outside the box. In former Gogrial State, do you know who can divide or unify us? In my understandable mind, we failed to choose leaders who are self aware, lead to inspire, turn words to actions, innovati
