How did Rwanda develop and buried 1994 genocide?
Historically, the smallest nation in East Africa has most
blisteringly recovered from genocide of 1994. Hutus are historically known for farming crops
and Tutsis tended livestock like any other African tribes in the region. It was a systematic murdering of Tutsi ethnic
group who were innocently killed by Hutus as the world didn't act to halt
genocide. they Rwandans gathered in April yearly to mourn for the lives lost as
Africans and the world grieve with them unitedly. The tragedy was inhuman,
cruelly, unlawful, senseless and violently devastating which bring an evocative
image to mind or unforgettable experience of Rwanda extermination.
In Kakuma Kenya, we heeded and heard the news on the BBC
focused on Africa as the genocide occurred in that part of the world. It was
the first time I learned and heard of the word genocide, which mean the
deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or
ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation.
The genocide became a big news which dominated African
continent and the world news channel, radios and newspapers. My take away from
that sad year was brutality and conflict among Tutsis and Hutus of Rwanda, I
had no idea why it happened.
Forthrightly, the atrocities won't be forgotten as some may
think, but Rwandan had moved on to building the future of their own populations
across the nation. The whole populations rebuffed to sing an incriminated song
against Belgian colonialism who messed up their long-term relationship when
they entered Rwanda and ruled it for many years. Colonial elites divided these
tribes when they dismantled the long ruling Kingdom of Hutus and gave Tutsis supremacy
to rule over majority Hutus and this fuelled the bad tension among others which
led to genocide. Rwanda was doing well
before Germany who took power in 1884 until 1917 when the Belgium became the colonial
rule of Rwandan.
It's the work of enemies and powerful nations to robustly
weaken smaller or largest tribes to fight among themselves discriminatorily.
Rwanda had recovered, but it remained a darkest road in the history of the
fastest developing nation in the continent.
Since President Kagame got the top chair, Rwanda has seen a
face change in term of development. Economic growth and a true reduction of
poverty which robustly initiated by Kagame in 2016.
There's no nation without inside and outside critics in the
face of this earth no matter where you domiciliated across the globe.
Politicians who are disapproval of Paul Kagame's government don't have Rwanda
at their hearts as they have nothing to offer apart from criticism. He's a
consummate President who had accomplished more and unifying leader in Rwanda
and Africa compare to no leader in the continent.
Genocide will still bring back wounds and torment in Rwanda,
but development is ongoing in most part of Rwanda. To have a successful business
growth, you need to access Capital, set up businesses and employ people within
to earn and pay taxes to develop the country. President Paul Kagame has just
done that, there's stability, economic growth, manufacturing sector and
Agriculture. After genocide, Rwandan citizens saw a brighter future ahead as
the government had shown impressive improvement and enormous performance in
governance and corruption. Sadly, other
nations in Africa will never see modernization or a progressive transition from
bad stage to a developing path.
Currently, Kigali is an exciting and immaculate city known
throughout the globe, people are paid by the government to clean busy streets
on the last Saturday monthly. I learned the new word " Umuganda" mean
coming together to do something jointly as united. Before I wrap up my article
about Rwanda, I remind the influential leaders of Africa to visit Rwanda and
see for themselves. I'm told that there's a welfare scheme used to help poor
people in Rwanda, the government offer one cow to each family to own.
Paul Kagame government's responsive to citizen's aspirations
and people live side by side as I'm writing this article. To paint the scent a
bit more, Rwandan are hospitable and far more friendly than any other African
tribes. A trusted friend explicated to me that they're always polite and speak
slowly without shouting.
Rwandan citizens believed that their President is tremendously
strong implementer, he said things that are truly achievable. He had built the
first maize factory and roads connecting inside and outside the country. Kagame
don't even care what world leaders think of him, but his citizens had seen hope
that he ended ethnic grouping and division in Rwanda.
There’re things to back it up in 2017, the World Economic
Forum ranked Rwanda, Portugal, New Zealand and many other safest nations with
less crimes in the world.
To conclude, the tragic genocide was set against these two
tribes and that's what occurred in Rwanda, Hutus versus Tutsi. President Kagame
transformed Rwanda, economic growth, it became technological nation and
cleanest nation in East Africa. On the continent of mother-land Africa, Kigali will
be an example and liveable capital city in Africa. You can't see bottles, papers and trashes
loitering around Kigali streets, this is a tremendous city. He wasn't an
inconsiderate leader, but care for other people in Rwanda and that's the true
leadership we want in Africa.
